Ministries to commence weekly press briefing in Kaduna State

In order to carry the general public along on the activities of the state government, Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai has ordered Commissioners in the state to ensure weekly briefing of the press on the activities‎ of their respective ministries.
The Commissioner of Youths, Sports and Culture, Honourable Daniel Danauta, disclosed this yesterday when he received executive members of the Sport Writers Association‎ of Nigeria (SWAN) Kaduna State chapter on a courtesy visit in his office.
According to the commissioner, the order is to take effect from next week, saying his own ministry is to brief the press every Thursdays of the week.
The essence of the briefing, according to him, was to avail the public through the media the opportunity to know how each of the ministry is fairing, vis-a-vis their activities.
He said the era where each ministry run their activities unnoticed is over, adding that such order from the governor‎ was a very welcomed development because it would put every Commissioner on his toes to deliver according to mandate. “The governor is committed to keeping to his promise of making Kaduna State great again, and he is not leaving any stone unturned to achieving it, and those of us at the helms of affairs in the various ministries have no option but to follow suit and ensure a total positive turn around in our ministries.
“I know the expectation from my ministry is very high and we are ‎set and ready to reawaken the glory of sport in Kaduna State and restore it to its place,” he said.
He lamented that there had been neglect and abuse of processes and lukewarmness in the administration‎ of sport in the past and assured that the tide would be change for the interest of the state. “We are going to restore grassroot, school and community sports. We intend to intend to revive sport in a holistic manner and no single sport will be left out,” he stated. He assured Kaduna SWAN led by its Chairman Abdulraheem Aodu of his readiness to partner with the association in all sporting ramifications and render whatever assistance as at when due.
