Gov Ishaku Launches Free Medical Treatment In Taraba

The wife of Taraba State governor,  Mrs Anna Ishaku has launched  a free medical treatment in Jalingo tagged “Medical Rescue Outreach” which targets at least 80,000 patients across the state.She noted at the ocassion that her  “Hope Afresh Foundation” was targeting 5000 people across each of the 16 local government areas of the state. She  added that she was motivated by persistent calls to her office for assistance in settling medical bills.Mrs Ishaku  also urged the commissioner for Health, Dr Innocent Vakkai  to look into the high bills charged by hospitals in the state to enable the less privileged  have access to medical treatment.Earlier, head of medical team of the foundation, Dr. Dashe Dasogot said the foundation was equipped with enough drugs to treat as many as would turn out for the programme and harped on the needfor regular medical checks to avoid complications.According to him the five day free programme would be focused on hypertension, hepatitis, diabetes, HIV counselling and testing, screening for eye conditions including eye surgery among others.He expressed hope that many would regain their sight during the five day programme, adding, that a lot of people with different kinds of illness would be treated.“I want to thank Her Excellency for coming out to assist the less privileged to access medical services free of charge,” he said.Commissioner for Health, Dr Vakkai in his remarks thanked the wife of the governor for her initiative, adding that the programme was the beginning of the implementation of Governor Darius Ishaku’s rescue mission in the state. Our Correspondent reports that hundreds of patients within Jalingo and environs turned out to participate in the exercise.
