The Taraba Government on Tuesday in
Jalingo signed a N2.2 billion contract with Pinnacle Communications for
the digitization of its radio station, Taraba State Broadcasting Service
(TSBS).
The Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Mr Anthony Danburam, signed for the state government, while Mr James Segun signed on behalf of Pinnacle Communications.
“The contract is in partial fulfillment of Gov. Darius Ishaku’s campaign promise to beat the 2017 deadline for full digitization of all broadcast media organizations in Nigeria.
“The contract includes the supply and installation of complete state-of-the-art digital radio studio and transmission equipment for the TSBS AM/FM stations in Jalingo.
“Pinnacle Communications will also supply and install digital equipment for Bali, Sardauna and Wukari booster stations, including frequency modulated feeder stations,’’ the commissioner said.
He said that similarly, Pinnacle Communications would supply and install 50 kilowatts and 10 kilowatts AM and FM digital transmission studios each for Bali, Sardauna and Wukari booster stations.
Danburam said the organization would supply and install digital outside broadcast vans and 10 kilowatts digital transmitter/studios for the booster stations.
The commissioner said that the state was convinced to engage Pinnacle Communications for the project because it had, in 2016, completed and handed over to the Taraba Government a digitized television station.
Segun said that the radio digitization contract would be completed and delivered in seven months.
