Hard Time Awaits Lazy Teachers in Niger as Gov. Sani Bello Provides Vehicles to ES for Inspection of Teachers

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello on Tuesday frowned at growing trend of dereliction of duty among public school teachers and education inspectors in the state with a warning of a hard time awaiting any erring education officials.
He handed down this warning in Minna while presenting cars to each of the 25 local government education secretaries in the state to ease transportation of the officials and for effective supervision and inspection of primary and secondary schools in the state.

The governor vowed not to spare any school teacher, inspector or education secretary who failed to attend to their duties deligently, arguing that such attitude poses great threat to his administration's education development agenda.
He then charged the education secretaries to properly maintain and make judicious use of the vehicles,  stressing that "  no excuse for lack of supervision of schools and effective teaching shall be tolerated as government is doing everything possible to revive the education sector through reconstruction and rehabilitation of  infrastructure, supply of teaching and learning materials and upgrading of teachers qualifications".

The governor noted that the distribution of the vehicles was in fulfilment of  his administration's resolve to provide its work force with necessary work tools for effective service delivery to the public.

Commending the governor's initiative shortly after receiving the cars on behalf of the education secretaries, the Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Alhaji   Alhassan Niworu said the vehicles will help to carry out effective monitoring of public schools, especially in the rural areas.

The SUBEB boss said that the distribution of the cars to education secretaries would grossly help to bridge the basic "gap that makes private schools different from public schools due to lack of regular inspection and effective supervision".

He then assured the governor that with the release of the vehicles, educational secretaries, supervisors and teachers will now be on their toes and in turn bring about quality teaching and learning as well as actualisation of the administration's restoration agenda for education sector.
