Yobe State to Equip Gen. Hospitals Gashu'a, Potiskum, Gaidam with N679m

The Yobe State Executive Council today approved a total of N795, 083, 650.00 for the supply and installation of modern medical equipment for the three recently rehabilitated and expanded General Hospitals in Gashu'a, Potiskum and Gaidam Towns.
Information Commissioner Alhaji Mala Musti who revealed this after the State EXCO meeting chaired by H.E Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam said the state government had, in June 2016, spent N1.8 billion for the total rehabilitation and expansion of the three hospitals.
"Today, council approved N679, 380, 000.00 for the supply, installation and user training of assorted medical equipment to the three hospitals", Mala Musti said.

The commissioner said the approval is in line with the determination of the Gaidam administration to make quality healthcare services available and accessible throughout the state.
Musti added that N97, 703, 650.00 was also approved for the purchase of science laboratory equipment, tools and reagents, amongst others, for the five secondary schools that were also rehabilitated and expanded by the Gaidam administration.
These schools are GSS Fika, GSS Yunusari, GSS Nangere, GSS Gwio-Kura and GGSS Nguru.
The lab equipment are intended to boost the study of science-based subjects such as biology, physics and chemistry.
In another major education development, H.E Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam has assured that his administration will continue to sponsor more Yobe students to study in institutions of higher learning both within and outside the country.
The governor spoke shortly before the start of the State EXCO meeting today when Education Commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad Lamin handed him an award of excellence which was awarded to him by the National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) for his effort in moving Yobe's education sector forward. Lamin represented the governor at the award ceremony and accepted the award on his behalf.
H.E Gov. Gaidam said his administration will remain true to its commitment to students through regular payment of their scholarship allowances.
