Fight Against Boko Haram: Shettima receives MNJTF, Theater Commanders

... call for enhanced collaboration

Governor Kashim Shettima has stressed the need for collective efforts amongst all stakeholders to address the scourge of Boko Haram insurgents in the Lake Chad region.

He made this known while receiving the Force Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force, Major General Lucky Irabor on a courtesy call at the Government House on Friday.

The Governor also charged the security forces to conduct a research on the recharging of the drying Lake Chad after the restoration of permanent peace in the areas pointing out that the only of addressing security challenges will solve the economic problems, as the Lake Chad has a vista of opportunities that will also provide a lot of commercial activities to the populace.

He paid tribute to the Force Commander for his commitment in the restoration of peace to the State and the Northeast in general during his stay in the Operation Lafiya Dole Theatre Command describing his elevation to the status of Force Commander of MNJTF as well deserved

The Governor also assured his continued support to the military formations in their efforts to address the challenges of insecurity in the State.

Earlier in his remarks, General Irabor said he was in the State as part of his routine operational tour to security formations under his command and restated the commitment on the part of the army to carry along stakeholders in their quest to tackle the challenges posed to the region by insurgents.
He thanked Governor Kashim Shettima for his unending support to the military formations and urged him to sustain the tempo.

In a related development, Governor Shettima also received the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru on a courtesy call to intimate the Government of success recorded by troops in the on going counter insurgency operations.

Governor Shettima commended the troops of operations Lafiya Dole for the restoration of relative peace to the State.

General Attahiru called on the Governor to appeal to the United Nations and other NGOs to extend life support interventions to the Internally Displaced Persons as they are preparing to return back to their homes.
